Uncontrollable and acting on pure instinct, Tagiru reminds Taiki of Shoutmon before their adventure together but comes across as far more unpredictable. A fellow member of the Xros Heart street basketball team, Tagiru is the least skilled of the members but makes up for this with his gung-ho movements and his blessing of pure luck.

Introduced to Digimon Hunting by Gumdramon and the Watchmaker, after being amazed by a display from Ryouma’s team, Tagiru has embraced the game with a newfound passion. His forward nature both his greatest strength and greatest weakness, he taught himself the rules of the DigiQuartz after forgetting his rule book and wielding a crimson Xros Loader, Tagiru fights his opponents head on with his partner Gumdramon and doesn’t stop pounding until they fall down.

Tagiru considers himself to be in constant competition with his senior Taiki. Forever trying to surpass him, Tagiru will go out of his way to do things bigger and flashier in an effort to outshine his mentor. With his other teammate Yuu, Tagiru shares a friendly rivalry. The two watch each other’s back, yet it can’t be ignored that Yuu’s similarities to Taiki and general superiority frequently leave Tagiru behind. His gung-ho nature frequently leads to him knocking himself out while playing basketball and finding himself reprimanded by his friend Mami, who assumes a protective yet caring role, watching over Tagiru as Akari once did Taiki.

Together with Gumdramon, Tagiru has clashed with several invading Digimon and is frequently plagued and observed by Ryouma’s team. Of the Digimon Hunters, Ryouma’s team are most akin to Tagiru’s mindset and goals yet his experiences with Xros Heart have ensured that Tagiru will never step into the morally grey area the rival team all too frequently tread. Tagiru’s journey has just begun, and as he continues to capture more Digimon and complete his collection, it’s only a matter of time before he succeeds in proving his true strength.
