Yuu is introduced in Battle 05. He classifies himself as weak but helps Tsurugi formulate a plan to beat Tankdramon. He is the reason that Tankdramon is obliterating Middle City. We find out that Yuu was drawn in via his PC. Yuu has a heart condition was to have an operation however he is unaffected by his heart problem in the Digital World and that's a reason he wants to stay. He is loving to Gaomon and has given off a random Digisoul in Battle 09. He now wants to help Tsurugi defeat Barbamon and his Digimon holds the Beast Digimemory. His father is a policeman.

When Trailmon dies he gives off a Dark Digisoul similar to Shou's and falls into unconciousness. Andromon gives Yuu the resolve to go on allowing Wanyamon to evolve to MachGaogamon. He goes with Tsurugi in order to get Ami back, however they are stopped by the Commandments and split up. MachGaogamon has to face off against Chaosdramon.

Norun gives Yuu a Digimon Twin as well allowing MachGaogamon to evolve to ZD Garurumon. He at first doesn't listen to Yuu but eventually does after his Beast Digimemory is taken by NEO to allow him to be nearly complete. Even when the Digimemory is taken ZD can still fight and does so. At the end of the battle ZD turns to stone as his mission is complete.
